Practical Course: Building PETs

Content

This practical course teaches students the basics of Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) implementation. The presented methods are from the areas of Data Privacy (k-anonymity and Differential Privacy), Private Information Retrieval as well as anonymous communication. Additionally, students have to implement PET algorithms in a programming language of their choice.

Building PETs 2025

The practical course Building PETs is a follow-up to the lecture Privacy Enhancing Technologies from the summer term. We will take the theoretical concepts that have been discussed in the lecture and put them intro practice in the form of small programming exercises.

Schedule

The course will take place on Mondays, 14:00–15:30 in Room 252 (50.34). The first meeting will be on November 3rd. Note that we will not meet every week, the exact schedule will be shared during the kick-off and in ILIAS.
